What foods increase the immune system most?

A few months ago I had a cold that lasted two months. I didn’t think much of it, but after a while, I realized that the cold lasted so long because my immune system is weak. I hate being sick, honestly. What can I do/eat to strengthen my Immune System?

lots of fruit, veggies, and Vitamins.

1 pill of vitamin a day. All fruits will help, not just 1 type. You need to eat a variety of fruits and vege.

i was totaly the same. just drink lots of herbal teas and eat lots of fruit and vegtables. they are the best honestly. they all feed your blood and immune system with really good nutrients to help fight bad bacterias and keep your system running strong. i never felt as good as this ever, i just eat and drink these things all the time.

Garlic is very good for your immune system. If you’re sick, you might want to try a home remedy that we’ve used many times–warm milk, honey and lots of garlic (whole pieces, do not crush the garlic). It tastes terrible, but it works in getting rid of your cold and it builds up your immune system so that you won’t get sick so often.

Also, oil of oregano is good for getting rid of colds as well as building up your immune system. You can get it at health food stores and you just drop some oil of oregano under your tongue and let it do the trick. We had a friend who had a cold for six weeks and tried everything and it wasn’t going away, but when she tried oil of oregano she got better immediately. Again, it tastes terrible, but it works.

Did you know that seventy percent of your immune system is in your gut – namely, your colon? That is where the good bacteria and the bad bacteria fight it out every day. The best thing you can do to help the good bacteria flourish is to take probiotics, prebiotics, and eat lots fiber rich foods. Simply put, that means eating plain yogurt sometime before bed and a bowl of oatmeal sometime during the day – preferably with breakfast. Drink herbal teas to jump start your immune system health. Try echinacea or golden seal root to start. Bioflavonoids found in the white pith of orange skins and anti-oxidant fruits such as blueberries, cherries and dark purple grapes will help also. There are so many things you can do, I only offer these suggestions only as a starting point.
